A classic tale with tons of vibrant imagery, Dai Sijie’s Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress was begging to be illustrated. I set out to capture, in my own way, the description of the seamstress and her surroundings. Original illustration is acrylic and paint pen on birch wood; version seen here is digital.
