Chachi Plays For Kids

A stand up Pittsburgher (Anthony Walker, aka Chachi) decided he wanted to raise money for Make Room For Kids, an extension of the Austin’s Playroom Project at the Mario Lemieux Foundation. The goal? Raise $2400 to help outfit Children’s Hospital with gaming systems that sick kiddos could use to help pass the time. An avid gamer, his method was simple; for every $100 raised, he would play video games for an hour up to 24 hours.

He came to me in need of a logo and with a concept, a mere twinkle in his eye. It had something to do with a joy stick, some building blocks, some childlike lettering and a circle. I went to town and edited his idea down into something stronger; I knew it had to be kid friendly because of the nature of the project, but it also needed to be grown-up and sophisticated enough that adults would find it appealing (since adults are the ones that would be making the donations). After a few emails back and forth, voila. A logo. A pretty, pretty logo that did its job. Chachi exceeded his goal and a bunch of folks walked away with some super stylish t-shirts featuring this very design.
